Professional Externship: Nothing Beats On-the-Job Experience
In addition to time spent in a classroom, students in this program will gain hands-on experience and clinical practice in a "real world" job setting through a supervised externship. During externship students will work in a real clinical setting and will be responsible for the following duties:
- Clerical Functions
- Venipuncture (drawing blood samples)
- Collection of Specimens
- Taking Vital Signs
- Assistance with Office Exams
- Basic First Aid and Bandaging
- Charting Patients
- Taking Vital Signs
- Billing
- Other Office Duties
In the classroom, students will be introduced to a number of vital, important health care skills. Students will study Medical Terminology, Cardiology, Surgical Procedures, Pharmacology, Lab Procedures, and Clinical Procedures.
Externships are an excellent way to build practical experience - and build your resume - before you graduate. Employers will be impressed with your level of comfort in a clinical setting when you graduate with hands-on, on-the-job experience.
